ABOUT JULIAN

Julian Cole is the Head of Comms Planning at Bartle Bogle Hegarty in New York. In this role he oversees the comms planning on PlayStation, Google Play, Axe, Johnnie Walker, Westin, Harman Kardon and Sharpie. His recent work helped play a part in launching the PlayStation 4 the fastest selling platform in video gaming history. The work was also awarded top advertising honors at Cannes, winning 2 Gold Cannes, 2 Silver and a Bronze Lion for the integrated work BBH created on the account.
He has been fundamental in helping to establish the new discipline of Comms Planning and Digital Strategy. He has published a number of influential presentations on Slideshare which have been viewed over 1,000,000 times including; Digital Strategy Toolbox, What is Digital Strategy and What is Comms Planning. Julian is also the cofounder of The Planning Salon an on going series interviewing the top planners from around the world.
He has also taught on topic both on and offline; teaching Comms Planning at America’s top Advertising School VCU Brandcenter and also online courses on Skillshare for Comms Planning, Digital Strategy and Social Strategy that have been attended by over 2,000 students.
Julian published a chapter on how the dark web (porn, the black market and bitcoins) is impacting the web and can inspire planners, in the Creative Social book Hacker, Maker, Thief and Teacher: Advertising’s Next Generation. Julian was also on the Juror for the Jay Chiat Awards for planning excellence this year.
